Mouse antics

Today's new problem...

My cursor has taken it on itself to travel to various parts of the screen, mostly the top. No matter how hard I drag it back, it keeps heading North (or south, or occasionally west). Then it stops all by itslef and it's back to normal for several minutes before going north again....

Some new virus? Something about to burn out?

Any ideas out there?
