Oh, believe me. I understand that those guys and gals must hit burnout often. Were I in a job like that it'd be tough to go home every day. Wonder how many divorces have happened since the rovers landed?
Even so, I am simply so concerned with Spirit, that the scientists are going to have the damn thing stop at every outcropping along the way up the hill and that at one of those stops, that bad wheel is simply going to give up its ghost and that'll be where Spirit sits for eternity.
We have plenty of data from both Rovers so far on the micro-geology of the planet that will keep the scientists busy for years to come and Oppy is primed to suck much more of that out. I think the biggest potential for Spirit throughout the rest of its lifetime is more the macro-geology, the big picture that will be gained from the views at the top of those hills, overlooking the huge crater they're in and the intriguing canyons over the other side. In my mind, they can't get up to the top fast enough. Damn the outcrops. Full speed ahead.
