"What's chili?" Another note on bias.
From this story:
Edwards and his wife had hearty meals of burgers and fries and shared a chocolate Frosty. Teresa Heinz Kerry pointed at a picture of chili on the menu and asked the cashier what it was before ordering a bowl. Her husband had the same, along with a Frosty.
Is this actually important? Of course not. We're pretty sure that the Kerry's don't spend a lot of time at Wendy's (apparently the Edwards do), and frankly, does it make that much difference? For all we know, maybe Teresa just pointed at an unlabeled picture and asked what it was. I've done that. I wasn't there.
But how many of you doubt that if this story had appeared about Bush, it would be on everyone's lips for two weeks?
Remember this beauty?
Remember when being "out of touch" with the middle class was only an issue to the media when the person involved was a Republican? Now that the Democrats are running someone who takes elitism to a stratospheric level, it's a non-issue. Kind of like being a war hero (Bob Dole) is only an issue now that Kerry is running.
As another example, some Marines resented Kerry buttonholing them. It made a few papers. Find anyone at a Bush rally who thinks he sucks, and that person makes the front page.
