There is no law of nature preventing another Earth-like planet from forming somewhere else. Don't count on "first contact" with aliens though. The nature of species will be different from one age to the next. We will change. I expect major cultural change in the next few hundred years, just like the last few hundred years. Energy availability and purpose of use is one force for change. Language is another force for change. Transport, refrigeration, and cooking of food , clothing, shelter, reproduction, and pleasure are all forces for change.
We might start to perceive some "natural" phenomena as really evidence of alien activity. Or not. Do other species on Earth perceive that humans built all the things we have: highways, buildings, cars? Change of perception might change everything.
