These ways

2) >snip< We would station troops at our borders. No more sneaking through holes in the fence.

While we do need tighter control over who comes and goes, what does this suggest? Not arrest. The armed forces are not police. It suggests shooting people.

Do we also shoot the people who hire them? No supply without demand, remember.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France would welcome them.

And how will the law enforcement authorities identify an American from a non-American? Why, we would all have to carry our internal passports at all times, of course. "Show me your papers" would no longer be a sinister phrase one only hears uttered by an SS officer in the train station scene of The Great Escape.

BTW, do we get to keep the children born here and deport their parents? Inquiring minds want to know.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself, don't hide here. Asylum would not ever be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers.

The future policy of the United States would thus become much like the policies of totalitarian nations in the past. Not that anyone would want to seek asylum in the nation described. Let the other nations accept the courageous people who would need to flee; we don't want them. They have questioned their governments -- they might do the same thing here! Who needs courageous people? We will have our internal passport system to keep us secure.

But you're right: not so much like a concentration camp, except for the random strip searches and incarcerations, and the barbed wire wrapped around the country. A lot like the former Soviet Union, though. Some of us need to have that enemy to define ourselves so much that we want us to play the dual role, just like the "identical cousins" in The Patty Duke Show.

We won't have to worry about other people taking our way of life away from us. We can just take it away from ourselves.

We certainly won't need any more cab drivers. When the oil-producing nations laugh up their sleeves at our hamfisted attempt to fix their prices, then buy their grain from the Ukraine and their beef from Argentina, there will be less demand for cabs and no gas to run them anyway.
