I say "Mexico for the Mexicans"! What's right is right, and what's wrong is wrong.
Texas belongs to Mexico, culturally, historically, and socially. There's a moral kinship, a shared ethic, a common language. The US has simply borrowed it for a while, and it's time to give it back.
I agree with millions of Texans that they don't belong to the US, and I say give 'em their way. And I'd let the people have dual citizenship - Mexican and Guatemalan.
