Yes, it's towards M13 that a first radio emission for ETI was sent in 1974, from Arecibo.
Some have doubted a planet in such a place could produce civilizations.
But the fact that we measure about 6 feet and live about 80 years, while we're inside a 13.7 Billion years old universe with an as yet unkown size (in billions of light-years) and that we realize it, makes our mortality a little easier to accept.
