Magnetism and early planet formation

Has anyone ever included the effects of magnetism on planetary formation models?

It appears that there is a lot of iron and other heavy metal objects floating around out there. Could magnetism have been a factor in the earliest stages of formation for planets and other objects in a given solar system?

Just curious...
