According to the Population Reference Bureau there is huge population growth forecast for poorer nations. Over population is a classic example of "thermal runaway", i.e. people have lots of kids because they're poor, because people have lots of kids they get poorer, ... Of course this predicted population jump will probably be stopped by the HIV plague, the world running out of arable land, nasty religions with nukes, etc. In Australia they have these amazing mouse plagues (the ground can literally be covered with mice). A friend of mine had this bag of grain (horse feed) in the shed. Surrounding this bag were the bodies of mice that had starved to death. Inside the bag were fat mice who had pushed out their weaker relatives. Anyway, welcome to the future! We were supposed to have flying cars and be colonizing Mars. How did we end up where we are now?
