It's not like Kerry's short on funds right now.
Every time Kerry opens his mouth, he's been sticking his foot in it. The "imminent threat" statement at the veteran's speech was a lulu. The holes in his Vietnam story are being ignored. Nobody seemed to be bothered when he said he'd have voted for war authorization even if he had know there were no WMD back then. Notice Donald's dead silence on this as well.
Only the fact that the lips of the press are affixed to the ass of the Democratic Party like those of a male angler fish has saved him so far. The less Kerry is out there, the less likely there will be a mistake.
The entire focus of the Democrats is the destruction of Bush. If Kerry dropped dead tomorrow, half of the Democrats would still vote for him.
The Democratic battle plan is to lay low, then unleash a barrage of dirt on Bush late in the campaign. I'm betting on a new portfolio of Abu Ghraib photos or even movies, but I'm sure there may be other items that can be recycled. Maybe even something new, like the DUI attack in 2000.
There will, of course, be no accusations of the media "timing" this.
