I just realized something (slightly related to my troll joke to Tom)

Political blogs, particularly the comments sections, are a direct descendant of Sports BBS.

You don't usually see an NFL bbs. You usually see Eagles, Patriots. Raiders etc.

The format usually goes something like this:

Eagles Board Initial Post:
Man McNabb looks pumped! We're going to Louisiana!

Dittoheads: Yeah! SB here we come!

Contrarian: Y'all are drinking the team Kool-aid if you think McNabb will throw to Owens if he's less than 10 yards open.

Dittoheads: Yer a no-nothing!
Contarian: Yeah? You're all front office apologists!

SkinsFan: McFlab only passes to grass or the sky

Dittoheads: TROLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Insert Bush or Kerry and does it look familiar?

Another similarity is the ability to latch on to one overriding talking point which the ROW couldn't give a fig about.

Initial Post: Ray Lewis said in an interview when in high school that he hated someone named Brady!
Patriot Dittoheads: He dissing us?????
(repeat till every aspect has been gone over in mind numbing excruciating detail)

Rest of world sighs and completely ignores.

Change it to Kerry in Cambodia or Bush and DUI.

This epiphany I'm sure will greatly increase both my understanding and sheer enjoyment of political bbss.
