I met the Captain once.......
James T. Kirk.
He was out at the racetrack taking the Panoz Racing school at the time to get licensed for a street race in Washington last summer. I fed him a beer and gave him one of my articles because of a movie he had planned to do. He said Sebring was a magical place.
It was a gas to be talking with him. I grew up watching Star Trek like everybody else. He has superstatus. Imagine the pressure of being the Captain for the whole of mankind. Serious business.
I found William Shatner to be warm and funny, and not at all the bear some media makes him out to be. He was even generous and thoughtful with his crew.
