So after a black hole is formed, what happens to the additional mass it consumes?

I have heard cosmologists say they do no know what happens to the objects that enter the event horizon. Some speculate it creates a white hole in some alt universe

Either way with as little as we know about the subject there is no reason to exclude the possibility that a black hole could exist in 2 different dimensions. Who knows?
