My posting of this story does nothing of the sort. It merely points out just how politically vulnerable the Bush presidency truly is.

Frankly, I'm not a fan of protesters, especially those who damage property and hurt others.

But the point of the story here isn't about the protesters, its about what the Bush administration did in response. They caved in order to avoid the obvious negative political consequences. The pending events would have irrevocably tarnished the carefully crafted facade the Bush campaign has been hoping to portray during the coming GOP convention. That's why Powell cancelled the trip.
