Talk about convergence, or sychronicity, or whatever you want to call it...a day after reading Chris and Mary Anne's heartfelt posts where they talk about how the Bush admin is shutting out a great many Americans, I read a rather extensive article in The Economist which offers much the same opinion.
The article itself is premium content, but there's a shorter peice that echoes much of it.
The gist (it's several pages long and I won't be doing it justice): The president has concentrated too much power in his own hands and has too little patience for disagreement. The author further contends that another term for Bush will almost certainly see the trend continue, at great cost to the many institutions that'll continue to be weakened by the shifts in power.
It isn't a complete condemnation by any stretch, but it's also hard to view it as a real endorsement, either.
What do you guys think? The Economist isn't exactly a leftist mouthpeice, is it?
