Re: "If you beat your head against the wall, it is your head that breaks, not the wall."

For some time now they have been bingeing on everything from climate change denial to creationism. But in the last four years they outdid themselves with birtherism and death panels, insisting Obama was a Kenyan imposter imposing European values.

Spot on.

For 4 years now, the GOP has painted Obama as an illegitimate usurper, a foreigner with forged papers, unAmerican, a socialist, a Muslim, an anti-colonialist (isn't that a good thing?), as someone who doesn't "understand what it means to be an American", a tyrant and a monster.

They've waged a campaign of obstruction, lies, voter suppression, legislative blackmail and unprecedented insult and disrepect in the right wing entertainment media and even the halls of congress. And they've run a candidate who couldn't keep his stories straight or stick to one ideological position longer than it took to defeat each of the drooling cretins his own party offered up to challenge him in the primaries.

We have been treated to the unprecedented spectacle of a black president struggling with the highest unemployment in recent memory being elected, not once, but twice. TWICE! Think of that. Once as an inexperienced newcomer, an unknown, then again as a thoroughly vetted and familiar quantity. And all this by a man who promised us upfront he was going to extract us from our middle eastern wars, apply Keynesian stimulus to the economy and install a national health plan; any one of which alone was supposedly guaranteed to initiate global economic collapse, impose Sharia law on the nation, and lead us directly to Stalinism.

And what's most important, is that those Republicans who knew better remained silent, even collaborated with the brownshirts and Christian Jihadis because they lacked the integrity or decency to put a stop to what was happening in their own party.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
