Re: Anti-circumcision super hero
I've often wondered about the moral rightness of circumcision. It is performed without anesthetic, (considered too risky for infants, even surgery is often performed on babies with no anesthetic)so it is excruciatingly painful, but of course the victims do not remember.
In the postwar period, circumcision was quite common for supposed hygienic reasons. I was circumcised in a hospital, although my family was definitely not Jewish. But I don't remember, and I've never missed it. These protesters may have a point, but its way low on my list of civic and moral priorities.
We weren't Catholic, either, but I was baptized. I guess my folks were covering all the bases, just in case.
