While Clinton's coat-tails were tar, not so for Kerry - his campaign seems to have ignored the valuable technique of appearing with local candidates, a technique which I think the Dems had to give up during Clinton's presidency...
GOP now trying to create illusion (spin) that Kerry has lost big mo, hoping that herd effect takes hold - go with the winner. Coat-tails an effective way to de-spin this, and de-spin it fast.
Probably the most effective technique Kerry campaign has come up with is turning "W" into standing for "W"rong - but they're not using it enough. One good slogan is worth a lot - I Like Ike - provided the candidate is any good.
we'll see.
