The bottom line, though, is that W. Bush's decision of not allowing a massive UN inspection first, and THEN taking out Sadam, has led to the dispersal of both eqiupment and personnel from Iraq to points unkown, diverted resource from the hunt for al Qaeda, and led to far more US casualties in Iraq than needed to be.

While we don't know the particulars of his decision, it would appear some of his advisors gave him bad advice in this regard, undoubtedly telling him that the war would be completely over by the time the election rolled around in 2004. We will see, perhaps by the beginning of next year.
