re: Citizens of big cities angry at being used as a crying towel once a year by people who insult them the other 364 days of the year.

They live with it every every day. The rest of us take it out of a cabinet every so often, sing a song, and put it away.

This quote says it all.

"Hear Hear!!! I'm out here on the left coast and I've long wondered why all these smalltown rednecks are so quick to get teared up about 9-11 but insult people from the big cities every day. Remember the anti-Howard Dean commercial that made fun of everyone who drinks latte and drives a volvo? They hate New York. They're a bunch of phonies. The same as their patriotism."

Now, not all the small-town rednecks are rude and ignorant. We are all being spun to within an inch of our lives, though.

Just in the last couple of days or so, I read here that the left sold their honor long ago. I wrote it off as ignorance, which it certainly is, and was typical of the person who wrote it. But that post certainly helps me to understand the sentiments expressed by the left coast dweller in the quote above.

If we're all one country, why are we hateful to each other?
