Thoughts on BARF? (they made me say it!)

The other day, I was trying to find out how much water cats need to drink in a day. So as not to keep you on tenterhooks, the answer sounds like "none, if it's healthy and on a wet food diet" or "very little, if it's healthy and on a dry food diet". While looking for this answer, I kept coming across mentions of this "miracle" diet for dogs and cats.

Has anyone ever heard of or used the Biologically Appropriate/Bones And Raw Food Diet? The official site only offers promises of scientific studies in the future. Some of the things they say in their "Learn More" section make sense on the surface, but I'm having trouble deciding which parts, if any, are hooey. After all, they're out to make a buck too. It's easy to take advantage of anxious, doting owners with a large pet budget. And no, I don't have any pets. Just wondering.
