personally I'd prefer a different direction
- say, towards Antarctica .. or maybe Mars. That is, as far away as possible from the rest of the world.
But you got it right (to some extent) with satirising the 'cultural cringe' here. For that reason, I sometimes feel I'd personally rather move to the centre of the cultural universe - London (or maybe Prague).
