Pre-war Jack Straw warned Blair of post-war Iraq chaos

LONDON British Prime Minister Tony Blair is being accused of "clearly misleading" the British public over plans for postwar Iraq.

That comes after a newspaper reported Blair was warned a year before the invasion that postwar stability would be difficult. The Telegraph cites government documents marked "secret and personal."

The newspaper says Blair's chief policy adviser warned the prime minister that President Bush had no answers to big questions -- such as what happens after Saddam Hussein is ousted.

The Telegraph reports British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw had written to Blair a year before the conflict -- saying large numbers of troops would be needed for many years to maintain order.

Blair's office has declined to comment on the documents.
