Missing piece of Hyperion or foreground asteroid?

Looking through an old astronomy primer - published 1908, it lists 10 moons of Saturn, including one called Themis, discovered by Pickering 3 years earlier. It's orbit is shown as being in the region of Hyperion, although highly inclined. Pickering made 9 observations (usually enough to pin down the orbit, even then).
It was apparently also observed in the 1860's.
