That was a pretty good speech Kerry gave this morning. His delivery started off rough, but once he got into it, it went better. He still retained something of the tone of a Senator speaking on the floor, instead of the tone of a man running for President, but Kerry effectively spoke to the issues. Even Republican commentators were at a loss.
Not once did Kerry say "John Edwrds and I".
If Kerry gives that same speech again and again, in its entirety, it will probably get through. He might get tired of it, but his audiences won't. Once more, with feeling.
Kerry effectively spoke to the issues, including the charges of changing his position. I particularly liked his plan to actually FIRE those responsible for planning the period after Saddam was defeated, and his call for the employment of Iraqis.
My guess is that Kerry will also be working the economic issues as well. John Edwards coudl be effectively used to work this issue, making daily visits (which is to say VISITS EVERY DAY) to locations where plants have been shut down, even plants in Republican states.
Another place where Edwards could be very effectively used is on college campuses, as he is the only young candidate. Kerry's speech on Iraq could be modified by Edwards, and delivered on campuses again and again.
The other part of this is coat-tails, and I believe Kerry and Edwards will use these, though for campus calls Edwards will probable mainly use these if young candidates are available.
That's my guess as to what they'll do. we'll see.
