In defense of the story
I thought it was exactly like a graphic novel. I guess that it was on purpose. Some of the dialog looked like it could be parceled out in panels quite nicely. All of the jokes were like that: one panel sets it up, the next panel has a quick punchline with a rueful or sarcastic look, the panel after that has moved back to the plot.
Amazing visual design.
Jolie had too small a part.
