Keep in mind when discussing how things are going in Afghanistan (or Iraq for that matter), what the situation was like before we got there. A proper measurement of progress in rights and prosperity would be from there, not from how much worse it is than it is in Iowa.

You can't get a good picture of what's going on, either pro or con, from just a few sources. Only an idiot would assume the "Good News" postings are the whole story, and the author says as much.

On the other hand, how much of your news are you getting from people who would cut off their arm with a rusty chainsaw to see Bush fail spectacularly in his foreign policy? That's a factor, too.

Don't believe only your own propaganda either.
