Of course, there are advantages to funding Islamic churches- it's the power of the purse.
Afterall, the US is funding Israel for this very reason- we get to have a say it what Israel does.
Also, if the govt is funding the churches, it can then stop foreign money from buying influence- and more importantly this foreign money could have some of it's funds redirected to be used by terrorists. Govt funds if transparency is required can be more easily tracked.
