If nothing else, the absolute impotence of the United Nations when dealing with an uncooperative regime, has been thoroughly demonstrated. Those who believe that the United Nations would have kept us safe from Saddam forever are invited to take note.

The sooner the U.N. gets out of the peacekeeping business and sticks with humanitarian functions, where they have done much good, the better. What the U.N. should be replaced with--if anything--is a completely different discussion. No easy answers.
