When the candidates are cherry-picked by an occupying military power and there are many, many issues upon which the people cannot vote - such as the role THEY want religion to play in their government?

Tell me how there are "free" and "democratic" elections under those conditions?

Or, define "free" and "democratic" in a way which allows for an outside invading force to determine who can run for office based upon any whim they want.

Please.
