The only way those deaths could be regarded as political - - -

is if that war is wrong.

And, it's wrong.

If the results of a politicians actions are embarrassing to the politician, so be it.

If that war were just, we would be honoring the dead, acknowledging our sacrifices, and applauding the politicians.

As it is, we try to hide the deaths, the dead, and the people defending the indefensible are embarrassed.

Deal with it.
