I believe there is a difference between attacks on American military forces and criminal attacks upon citizens.
However, your data is a great demonstration that Americans do not mind violence and violent deaths. The vehicle accident numbers are also indicative.
If the US were concerned, a lot more lives could be saved by some work at home.
But, it would be inconvenient.
