Yea, I know that

I was referring to post Vietnam military service. I didn't read anything about Vietnam or the draft in Art's post so I didn't get into all that. Seems to me he was focusing on his service during the cold war and the war in Iraq so that was what I was responding to.

The Vietnam war was a ugly mess and I really think we learned a lot of lesson's from it . That war was an example of 'what not to do' and I really don't think you will ever see anything like that again. I'll never judge those that may have made an unpopular decision to avoid the draft, because since I wasn't put in that position I really couldn't say what I would have done. I had two uncles that fought in that war, one was drafted and the other had enlisted prior to the start of the war. In my family, my generation is the first in many many years that haven't fought in a war.

You're right though, I could be drafted one day. All men at 18 have to register with the selective service so they have me in their files. If that time ever comes I'll deal with it then. I'm not going to sit around and worry about it though.
