re: Economic indicator?
Some economic factors, recent and upcoming:
Manufacturing is up for the 16th straight month (index higher than 50.)
Construction is at an all-time high.
Consumer confidence is below expectations.

Jobs report coming out this Friday, just before the next debate. Economists are expecting about 155,000 jobs, and a steady unemployment rate. Anything either direction from this will be interpreted accordingly. This is the last such report before the election. Next report is November 5.
Some company earnings reports are coming out this week.
