"Bush Sr played with the hostilities between the two countries.
This contained the spreading od islamist fundamentalism.
Bush Jr has brought Iran and Iraq together and Iraq has become far more Islamist than it was for generations.
The situation is far worse than had Saddam stayed in power."
The American people are not trying reduce the number of people who are Islamic. If people in Iraq are becoming more Islamic then that is good. If there is more people in America becoming Christian that is also good. Or if more people in America are becoming Islamic that is also good. There is a lot of common ground between Christian and Islam faith. Fanatics whether they are Christian, Jewish, Islamic, tree hugging athests, Mormons, Scientologists, or whatever can be a problem.
A "true fundamentalist" wouldn't be a human guided bomb used to kill Jews for some political purpose- sure we call them fundamentalist and they might actually be trying to a more basic or truer form of Islam. But it's really just arrogance. It's a lack of faith, not the abundance of faith which causing this craziness.
The cause of this irrational behavior is not due to Islam, it's some fucked up person trying to understand Islam [and failing].
The situation is far better than had Saddam stayed in power.
