Spirit malfunction "gone"
LOS ANGELES, October 8 (Itar-Tass) -- The malfunction of the Spirit Mars rover is gone, and the rover is ready to move on, said representatives of the Pasadena laboratory that controls the Spirit and the Opportunity rover on the other side of Mars.
The disappearance of malfunctions in electric engines, which control the rover wheels, puzzled specialists. They cannot understand why the malfunctions happened and miraculously disappeared.
The immobile Spirit transferred a 360-degree panoramic view of the Martian surface. The distance to the most remote objects on the photograph, spurs of the Gusev crater, is about 80 kilometers. All in all, the two rovers have transmitted about 50,000 photographs of the Martian surface to the Earth.
The Opportunity has found another indirect evidence to water on ancient Mars. Cracks on the Asher stone might have resulted from water.
Time to go petal to the metal to the top of Husband Hill before the Mars bugaboos bite again!
