Questions And Answers On SS1

Now I know why there were so many scared looks. The number of close calls was prett high in the first show which I only caught the last quarter of previously.

One thing is unclear to me however. Why all the intermediate steps? It just seemed like the higher the number of flights the more people they risked. Would the problems have added up to a fatality if they happened all on the same flight? It doesn't seem like it to me. Were any of the control problems likely to lead to worse problems at higher speeds?

The big question is how fast can a SS1 descendant go without requiring heat resistant tiles? What are the limits of the feathered re-entry approach?

Mike Melvile had a bunch of great quotes, but I didn't get to type this while they were fresh enough in my mind to quote accurately. I highly recommend that show.

Mark
