two parties moving toward socialism, centralized control of citizens, and massive government

You are close but I doubt we will ever reach the communal state you fear.

As far as domestic policy is concerned we will keep experimenting with entitlements until there is a major breakdown that is detrimental to our lifestyle then we will fix it.

We will always have the illusion of personal liberty but there will be no real freedom left on this planet in a hundred years. The illusion of freedom will be enough for all but a few.

Hell, real freedom is already an illusion. A friend of mine left his home yesterday to get change to pay a worker and was stopped a block away for no seat belt and for leaving his drivers license at home.

I am primarily concerned for the security of my children and my children's children in generations to come. I want them to live as I have lived, free of hunger and free of fearing for their lives on a daily basis. I think they have a good shot as long as we don't start thinking of the forces at work in the world as a "nuisance".

Unfortunately, regardless who is elected there is a still some probability that the "nuisance" faction will go out with the first city to go up in a mushroom cloud.
