Hmmm... take a look at:
<href= "http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6234165/">MSNBC Economy page

From the last reporting period: consumer confidence is down, retail sales are down, GDP is down, ISM index is down, factory orders are down, unemployment rate is flat, job situation is down (a lot! 25% fewer jobs created in Sept. than Aug.), consumer inflation down (I guess this is good), housing starts up (by 0.6%), and home sales down.

Which indicators are up significantly?

By the way, for perspective, there were 16,000 jobs created in the Province of BC last month, with a population of just over 4 million - if the US had the same ratio, there would have been about 1.1 MILLION jobs created in the US last month instead of 96,000. THAT'S smoking.

The US economy needs to produce between 135,000 and 150,000 jobs each and every month just to keep up with population growth, so I don't see how falling 41,000 to 54,000 short of this can be considered a good thing.
