"What the hell are foreigners doing working jobs in Iraq that Iraqis could do themselves, like driving trucks, etc, etc, etc?
Why the hell are our forces going without having adequate translators along side them? It't not like no Iraqis speak English; why the f*** aren't we hiring them?
It's not like Iraq does not have engineers, clerks, managers, etc, etc, etc. Why are they still unemployed, all these months later?"
A truck can be pretty costily and it's cargo quite expensive in a war zone. Companies will pay premium wages to get reliable labor- english could an asset because the security forces speak english. But as Iraqis takeover the security and you can get a trustable Iraqi labor force, why wouldn't they hire drivers which don't cost as much as imported labor?
Another thing is Halliburton is the Prime contractor- it subs alot of the actual work once it gets somewhat established. Plus the US congress has directed these US companies to focus on getting Iraqi workers- or contractors. Finally what is the unemployment in Iraq? I believe that it's relatively low: 10-20%. Plus Iraq has pretty good economic growth. I would say the most important aspect at this time is still security and at this time I don't think they have a serious problem with unemployment or translators [of course if you going to import labors from the US or elsewhere the fact that these speak both English and Arabic would be attractive job skill]
