At Plate Tectonic rates of Motion, the worst bits of California should be rifted away from the mainland in about 5 million years. At that point you can breathe freely again.
Unfortunately for you, it won't slip beneath the waves, and as the isolated population of that elongate micro-continental island sail across the Pacific, muttering "I'll be back!", they will begin to bestir themselves with excitement as Alaska hoves into view and finally in about 25 million years they WILL be back.
You better hope that in that time you have evolved a massive bestiary in the continental USA to repel the boarders from that inbred menagerie.
Oh, and by the way, by this time, the Atlantic will be subducting on the East coast and a whole new range of thrust and fold mountains will have crumpled into existence, with occasional volcanoes clearing their throats and the mighty Mississippee will be five times more mighty, draining the entire US and Canada, while the Panama canal will no longer be neccessary and the new North American continent will be left to fester for 50 million years, cast adrift...
(You better start burying slimy stuff now to form the national petroleum reserve of that far-distant future. At a rough guess, all the lawyers and politicians would be a good beginning)

Well start holding your breath now...
