Of course, what you fail to point out is that these deaths occurred at a time when the United States was actively courting and assisting Saddam Hussein during the early to mid-1980's. Back then, Saddam was murdering Kurds even as Donald Rumsfeld was embracing him. It was a convenient alliance to serve as a counterweight to Iran.
