I googled CMOS BIOS and the motherboard model number and someone had done the same thing. And someone else told him how to repair it.
Find the BIOS jumper in the manual for the motherboard - and the guy even had a link. Didn't work, but I found a manual. Pull the power plug, take out the CMOS battery, and move the jumper over to the other side for 10 seconds.
Move the jumper pack, plug in the machine, turn it on, put the battery back.
And what came up was a screen, which said that everything was messed up - checksum wrong, CMOS corrupted, etc.
But that was manageable. Had it reload the "optimal settings", cycled through startup, shut it down and and then reset the CMOS on restart.
I really should look up what I'm doing before I do it.
And thanks for all the good-will and assistance, folks. Once again, Geek Speek is a Habitablezone.

No. Just no video. Now, following up, it's working.
