US elections from Europe

Just saw a debate on CNN with US and European journalists concerning the US elections.

The overwhelming majority of us want to see Kerry take Bush's place.
But if it's Kerry, it's going to be a lot tougher for us to refuse participating militarily in Iraq.
If it's Bush, it's going to be a lot easier to say no.
After all, the military service in Europe is weaker than ever. However, we see military force against terrorism doesn't help and as we know, practically all the neighbouring countries in Europe are disarming too, so it's a virtuous cycle.

The real divide is the religion. There are for instance more people going to mosks in the UK than in churches.
If Bush is so resolved, sure of himself, it's because of his faith. I'm much more for rational thinking than basing my acts on some undefined, unproven deity.

Europe is much less divided than the US, about Iraq.
A surprising thing about the US (I've seen reports from the deep middle west) is that the more liberal part of the country lives either in big cities, the west or the east coasts , or abroad, and they are the most at risk from terrorist attacks, while the most conservatives, the most security obsessed live so deep inside the country, they don't run the risk of interesting foreign terrorists. It reminds me of what often happens over here: the most extreme right representatives come from towns where there's very little immigration and not much going on.
