Randal Wagner, 50, was loaded into an ambulance, treated at Lutheran Medical Center for abrasions and facial cuts and issued a summons.

Wagner, who unsuccessfully tried to steal a "Dave Thomas" congressional sign that evening, had signs for other Democratic candidates in his Toyota pickup, Wheat Ridge police reported.

"I did a very stupid thing," Wagner said Monday, admitting theft of the signs. "I got caught up in the political passions of this highly contested election." "

There is no excuse for this behavior. It's theft. "Getting caught up in political passions" is a lame excuse. We *need* severe penalties for people doing this. Stealing a political sign should equal stealing a car: grand theft. It should be a felony. And if an ex-felon is caught doing this, there should be an even more severe consequences.
It's simply inexcusable behavior and I hope this Dave Thomas guy wins big, I think Republicans should vote for him solely on the grounds of sending a clear message.
