I always had a humane side- I liked Twains popular stuff when I was a little kid but when I was 14 or so I found 'mysterious stranger' and 'letters from the earth' and my mind was blown by the fact that this guy wrote such stuff 'back then'....

I personally think Twain is THE greatest american author- he was an eloquent man that could attack the wrong that was held to be right and not get stoned to death because he used satire like a surgeon with a scalpel. The man was visionary, and genuinely decent.

The sad thing is that books like 'Tom sawyer' and 'Huckelberry finn' are being banned from schools because they have the word 'Nigger'.... it IS an offensive word, but I think Twain used it to rub its vile dehumanizing meaning in our faces... he used it to contrast that dehumanizing intent with the humanity of those it was used against. Those books were a statement against racism...

Twain's works may be considered racist by todays standards, so is 'uncle Toms cabin' but the point is they were progressive and visionary for their time, and did a lot to start people questioning the bigotry...

You seem to think I criticize your posts because I am mean or evil- I am not... I just find what you post overwhelmingly offensive... You post nonsense and when someone proves it is false you attack them.... AND you never acknowledge you were wrong... What I respect above all is those that admit they were wrong... don't bother to point out that I myself dont always do it- I know, but I do it most of the time... the thing is you not only dont do it, you attack those that proved you wrong.

I am too tired to get in a flame war, I have a 3 nite laser run starting on halloween, and I am trying to see if I can project a batman symbol on the sky... (only half kidding).
