Childish act has consequences

Earlier today, someone noticed that a couple pictures of Bush on Netscape's CNN page were titled "Asshole.jpg" and "Moron.jpg." Word spread through several blogs pretty quickly as yet another example of media bias. Soon afterwards, the pictures were retitled.

CNN has issued a statement on their website (no link to the popup is available):

Netscape responsible for Bush photo insult

Disparaging image tags used to identify photos of President and Mrs. Bush currently circulating on the Internet were not created, disseminated or posted by CNN at any time, as is alleged. They were done by a junior-level employee of Netscape and posted on Netscape.com. CNN had no knowledge of this until it surfaced on other Web sites.

Netscape, which corrected the situation when it was discovered, has released a statement apologizing for the "inappropriate and disparaging terms" that were used in the image tags -- and saying that the company has terminated the employee.

This isn't the first time that a blogger has caught things like this but this is the first time I've heard of someone losing their job over it. Sooner or later, people will get the message that doing things that reflect poorly on your employer can have bad consequences.
