Just kidding, Larry.

Mr. Rutan would surely have plastered a thin layer of carbon-phenolic on
the SSI's critical surfaces. While not reentering the earth's atmosphere as fast as a V2,
it's leading edge(s) would probably have become hot enough to melt tin or lead.
Ouch!
