One issue was the need to avoid undermining the provisional Iraqi government. Sure, we could've gone in there months ago. Would that strengthen or weaken the Iraqis? I don't think any of us is in a position to know.

We do know that the Iraqi government is with us now. Their troops are fighting alongside ours. They're doing some of the more difficult and dangerous missions like cleaning out the mosques. Let's not gloss over this.
