re: Could Bill run as Hillary's VP?

The 22nd Amendment reads:

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

Someone who can fiddle around with the definition of "is" might have no trouble trying to squeeze through that "elected to the office of President" loophole. After all, a Vice President isn't actually elected to the office of President, is he? And if he ascends to the presidency, that isn't being elected, is it?

No doubt people with real legal backgrounds have worked this one out years ago. I don't think it's a real issue. Hillary will no doubt pick some non-controversial mouse out of the Democratic Party rank-and-file. Would save her the trouble of hiring food tasters, too.
